HEALTHSPAN
Healthspan is more important than lifespan, so why don’t more people know about it?
HEALTHSPAN is the period of life spent in good health, free from the chronic diseases and disabilities of aging. This definition implies that healthspan is a length of chronological time beginning at birth and ending at some subsequent time when an individual is no longer in good health and/or is suffering from diseases or disabilities of aging (Kaeberlein, 2018).
However, being “healthy” means different things to different people. A better definition might include being free from serious disease. A disease is considered to be serious if it is a leading cause of death.
A Newborn today has an extremely good chance of living to 100 and beyond. To cope, we need an economic, cultural and medical Transformation aimed at changing how we age while treating Health lifelong by Lifecare.
